The meaning of Sesshin is:

to settle the mind, to touch the mind,
to convey the mind

A Sesshin lasts from two to seven days and involves intensive seated meditation[zazen] as well as walking and work meditation and a variety of mindfulness practices.

Sesshin is about awakening the mind which is in all things. It is a great and time honoured form that has been used by generations of Zen students as a way to realize their essential nature and to embody it in daily life. Both wisdom and compassion flow from this and over time you become intimate and secure with the myriad circumstances of your life.
